The three days in our traditional nomad camp will culminate with our visit to the World Nomad Festival, an annual celebration that gathers nomads from across Mongolia and beyond. This festival is a lively expression of nomadic heritage, with demonstrations, performances, and festivities showcasing the enduring spirit and traditions of nomadic cultures from around the world.

What to Expect
This truly immersive experience transports us back to 13th century Mongolia. The varying tribal groups are not exactly unified yet, Mongolia exists as a culture and place as an idea only. Daily life is simple, beautiful and sometimes harsh, filled with daily chores, crafting and of course training for tougher days ahead. We find ourselves in a time of peace and comfort, late summer on the Mongolia steppe is warm, the days are long, and it is a time for the honing of skills, the singing of songs and exploring the wild steppe on horseback.
The first four days of this adventure will be spent in a traditional 13th century ger camp, complete with personal gers ( 4 to a ger) , a mess hall (outdoor seating, weather permitting) and of course the khans ger ( communal meeting space) Although we will maintain the authenticity of the camp there will be some modern amenities like a clean bathroom facility, electricity, and a wide selection of food. Every day we will have multiple activities, events and skills sessions on a rotational basis. The possible activities include but are not limited to, morning herder chores, rawhide preparation and braiding, tack making, wooden spoon an bowl carving, swordsmanship workshop, archery workshop, mounted archery workshop, riding lessons, ger building and packing workshop, traditional Mongolian cooking workshop, and much more! Throughout the 4 days in camp, we will also be hosting Mongolia musicians, dancers and performers. Finally, every night will end with a communal bonfire, a time to relax, communicate and share in the lessons and exciting new findings of the day!
The second portion of the event will put us amidst the larger World Nomad Festival. Here we will be surrounded by Mongolian heritage and culture from the entire nation, exploring the uniqueness and nuance that distinguishes each of Mongolians 21 Aimags ( state). While we will stay at camp during the evening, by day we will explore the festival, take in the musical and cultural performances and become one with the larger nomadic community. All in all this week offers a little bit of everything without the long distance travel that many trips in Mongolia require!
